Revenues
generated from production activities comprise the remainder of the income which
forms the financial base for most community rehabilitation services. Often,
rehabilitation programs contract with various government agencies and private
businesses throughout the United States to provide a myriad of products and
services. Additional contracts are constantly being investigated to expand the
types of training available and to generate additional production income. During
the year ending 1998, community rehabilitation programs generated revenue in
the amount of $324,952.00 from contracts with companies and agencies outside
of the state, thus bringing additional revenue to the State of Idaho.
Idaho's
rehabilitation programs are an important component to the service delivery continuum
that is structured to give people with disabilities increased skills that will
improve the available social and economic opportunities. Both from an economic
perspective where statistics indicate an $8 to $10 return for every $1 expended
on rehabilitation programs, and from a humanistic standpoint that confirms people
have improved feelings of self-worth and dignity when they are productive members
of their communities, community rehabilitation programs are a good investment.
Idaho's rehabilitation services are proud to be a part of the system that serves
"People With Abilities".
